Who this policy covers
This policy covers Wordplay Press at wordsplay.co. The site is a browser-based word-search tool with no user accounts or database for collecting puzzle contents. See the About and Contact pages for information about the site and its public contact channels.
The website operator can be contacted about this policy at creativelycontainedcontent@gmail.com. Please use “Privacy request” in the subject line and avoid sending sensitive information until any necessary identity checks are explained.
Puzzle words and local storage
The titles and words you enter are processed in your browser. Successfully generated puzzles are automatically added to local history. That history includes words, grids, difficulty, creation time, favorites and puzzle language. Suggested categories and your selected interface language may also be stored locally. Downloadable PDFs are generated on your device.
Interactive game progress is also stored locally for each exact grid when browser storage is available. Restart game clears the found-word marks for that puzzle; clearing browser data removes stored game progress. Deleting a history entry does not automatically delete its separate progress record. Playable HTML downloads contain the puzzle, instructions and game code and work without remote requests. Copies you download or share remain under your control. File previews and private-browsing settings may restrict progress storage.
Local data is specific to this browser and device. It remains until you delete it, clear browser data, or the browser removes it. It is not backed up to a Wordplay Press account. You can delete individual saved puzzles or clear recent history from the saved-puzzle shelf. Shared-device users should clear personal entries after use.
Optional analytics and service requests
We use Google Analytics 4 with Advanced Consent Mode. The Google tag loads on each website page with analytics and advertising cookie permissions denied by default. Before you choose, or after you reject analytics cookies, Google may receive limited cookieless measurement pings. These requests may include consent status, page and referral information, timestamps, a temporary random number, and technical information such as request headers and IP addresses. Cookieless does not mean that no data is sent or that every request is anonymous. We do not intentionally send the words you enter as analytics events.
Your analytics-cookie choice and the time it was made are saved locally for up to 180 days before we ask again. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, this implementation disables Google Analytics measurement, including cookieless measurement, even if a previous choice allowed cookies. The Google tag library itself still downloads and its provider can receive technical request information. Hosting, security, fonts and image services also receive technical information needed to display or operate the site. These controls do not change the practices of external websites you visit.
With your permission in Privacy settings, Google Analytics can also use first-party analytics cookies to distinguish browsers and sessions. Google may then receive page URLs, page titles, referrers, interaction and device information, and technical request data. This site configures analytics-cookie lifetime to 180 days; activity while consent remains valid can renew them. Do not put personal information in page URLs or puzzle titles you share publicly.
Our tag keeps Google signals and ad-personalization signals disabled and does not grant advertising storage, advertising user-data or personalized-ad consent. The analytics button does not activate AdSense. Read how Google processes information from sites using its services. Google's service settings determine retention of already collected analytics data; cookie expiry is not a promise that server-side data is deleted at the same time.
Withdraw analytics-cookie permission through Privacy settings. The tag updates to denied storage and this site removes its accessible Google Analytics cookies without refreshing the page or deleting puzzles. Limited cookieless pings can continue after rejection unless a supported browser privacy signal disables measurement. Withdrawal does not erase data already received by Google; contact us about requests concerning that data. Analytics is not included in downloaded playable puzzle files. Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on and browser tracking controls provide additional options.
Google advertising and third-party cookies
AdSense advertising is not requested by this site unless a real publisher ID and the operator's advertising and consent-readiness configuration are enabled. When advertising is active, third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites.
Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. Google and participating advertising partners may also use IP addresses, identifiers, web beacons, or similar technologies for ad delivery, measurement, frequency control, and fraud prevention. Non-personalized advertising can still involve storage or processing; it is not automatically exempt from privacy requirements.
You can opt out of personalized Google advertising through My Ad Center. For participating third-party vendors, additional personalization opt-outs are available through the Digital Advertising Alliance choices tool. Those choices do not necessarily stop all advertisements or apply to every vendor or device.
Read how Google uses information from sites using its services and Google's advertising technologies information. When a certified advertising-consent message is active, it identifies the vendors and choices applicable to that message.
Advertising consent and regional choices
The site's local Privacy settings panel controls optional analytics only. It is not a Google-certified advertising consent-management platform. Before personalized advertising is activated for visitors in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, the operator must configure and publish Google's certified Privacy & messaging message or another certified CMP. Advertising choices, vendor information and withdrawal must be available through that platform. Applicable U.S. state privacy options must also be configured where required.
Browser cookie controls can delete stored data, but do not replace the advertising platform's consent choices. Where applicable law gives you access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or opt-out rights, use the contact information and describe the request. Avoid sending sensitive information publicly.
Children, classrooms, and personal information
Adults may use the tool to prepare activities for families or classrooms. Children should use it with a parent, guardian, or educator. Do not enter student records, dates of birth, addresses, health details, or other sensitive information. We do not offer child accounts or ask visitors for their ethnicity or background. This policy alone does not establish a legal age classification for the service; the operator must assess the intended audience before configuring advertising.
External links, retention, and security
External websites, including Tumblr, source institutions, Google and opt-out providers, have their own privacy practices. Wordplay Press cannot delete records held by those services. Technical logs and advertising records are retained under each provider's policies and applicable law. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.
Messages you choose to send
The Contact page opens your email application; it does not submit a hidden web form. If you email us, we receive your address, the content and any attachments you send, and message metadata. We use that information to answer the request, investigate a reported problem or handle a privacy matter. Gmail processes these messages under Google's privacy and service terms. We do not automatically add correspondents to a marketing list.
Correspondence is retained while needed to respond, resolve an ongoing issue or meet an applicable legal obligation. Relevance to an unresolved issue, security concerns and legal requirements determine whether it needs to be kept longer. Request deletion if you do not want an unnecessary message retained; local puzzle history can be deleted directly in your browser.
Purposes, lawful bases and international processing
Where applicable privacy law requires a lawful basis, analytics-cookie storage relies on your consent. Limited cookieless measurement is used to understand overall site use; where permitted, its basis is the legitimate interest in measuring and improving the service, subject to your rights. Cookieless processing is not automatically exempt from privacy or consent requirements, and a technical consent-mode setting alone does not establish compliance in every jurisdiction. Necessary service and security processing, and responding to messages you send, rely on legitimate interests in operating a usable, secure tool and handling requests. Processing required by law relies on the relevant legal obligation. Advertising requires its separately configured consent or other applicable legal basis; this analytics panel does not provide advertising consent.
Hosting, font, analytics and email providers may process technical data or correspondence in countries outside your own. Their privacy notices explain their processing locations and applicable transfer mechanisms; contact us for information about the providers used for a particular request. We do not claim that every provider or transfer has been independently certified by Wordplay Press.
Your rights and complaints
Depending on the law that applies and the basis for processing, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of personal information. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests. You can withdraw optional analytics consent through Privacy settings; withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of earlier processing. Advertising consent, when active, is withdrawn through the certified advertising message. We may need reasonable identity verification before disclosing information.
You can also contact the data-protection authority where you live. UK visitors can find information through the Information Commissioner's Office. Providing optional analytics permission or sending a contact message is not required to use the core puzzle tools. We do not make solely automated decisions about visitors that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
