Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small pieces of information a website or service stores in a browser. Local storage, identifiers, pixels and web beacons are related technologies with different technical behavior. The site's puzzle history uses local storage, not an online account.

Local data used for the puzzle features

Generated puzzles are automatically saved to local history, including their titles, words, grids, difficulty, language and time. Favorites, suggested categories and the interface language also use local storage. They remain in this browser until deleted, cleared or removed by the browser. You can remove individual puzzles from the Saved Puzzles section; clearing recent history preserves favorites, while clearing the site's data in your browser removes all local entries.

Touchscreen, mouse and keyboard games may store the words you found for each exact grid under a local game-progress entry. Restart game clears that grid's marks without changing its word list. This entry is separate from saved history and is not removed by deleting a history card. Playable HTML files contain no trackers or remote dependencies; a browser may restrict storage when a downloaded file is opened, in which case play still works but progress may not survive closing it.

The privacy-preference entry stores an analytics allow/reject choice and its timestamp. We ask again after 180 days. If storage is blocked, the choice applies for the current visit but may not survive a refresh. Rejecting optional analytics does not delete puzzles or prevent generation, printing or PDF download.

Analytics cookies wait for permission; cookieless measurement may occur

The Google Analytics tag loads in each page's initial head using Advanced Consent Mode. Analytics and advertising cookie permissions default to denied. Before you choose, or after Reject analytics cookies, limited cookieless pings can still be sent to Google. These may contain consent status, page and referral information, timestamps, a temporary random number and technical request information. Cookieless does not mean no data is sent. Choose Allow analytics cookies to permit analytics-cookie storage; the choice does not permit advertising cookies.

Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track disables Analytics measurement in this implementation even if a previous choice allowed analytics cookies. The Google tag library still downloads, and technical data can reach its provider during that download. Browser tracking controls or Google's Analytics opt-out add-on provide additional controls; see the Privacy Policy.

When allowed, Google Analytics 4 can set first-party cookies such as _ga and _ga_CBJK57C03Y to distinguish browsers and maintain session information. This site configures the Google tag's cookie lifetime to 180 days; later activity with valid consent can renew that expiry, and browser restrictions may shorten it. These cookies are separate from the local entry that stores your consent choice.

You can change the choice using Privacy settings in the footer of every page or the button below. Withdrawal updates Analytics to denied cookie storage on the current page, without refreshing it or deleting puzzles or unsaved edits. Limited cookieless measurement may continue after rejection unless a supported browser privacy signal disables it. Hosting logs and font, image or Google tag-library requests are not controlled by the analytics-cookie choice.

Withdrawing permission also attempts to remove this site's accessible _ga and _ga_* cookies. It does not delete records already held by Google. Google signals and ad-personalization signals are disabled in our analytics configuration; allowing analytics does not grant advertising consent or start AdSense ads. Downloaded playable puzzle files contain no Google Analytics tag. For provider processing, see Google's partner-sites information.

Advertising cookies and consent are separate

When enabled, Google and other participating advertising vendors may use cookies or similar identifiers to serve, measure and personalize ads based on previous visits to this site or other websites. Their storage periods and processing are controlled by those vendors.

This site's analytics panel is not a certified advertising CMP. Personalized advertising in the EEA, UK and Switzerland requires the operator to publish Google's certified Privacy & messaging European-regulations message or another Google-certified CMP. Applicable U.S. state choices must also be configured where required. The advertising platform, not this analytics button, provides vendor-specific consent and withdrawal choices.

The AdSense loader remains disabled unless a real publisher ID, explicit advertising enablement and the operator's consent-readiness configuration are present. These configuration checks are safeguards, not proof of a visitor's consent or full legal compliance.

Other privacy controls

Manage Google's ad personalization through My Ad Center, and participating vendors through the Digital Advertising Alliance choices tool. Browser controls can block or delete cookies and local data. Deleting site storage also deletes locally saved puzzles; make any PDF backups first.

Read our Privacy Policy for data disclosures and our Contact page for questions. Links to external controls open third-party services with their own privacy policies.
